How We Can Help

A Note From Dr. Andrea

We should be able to expect healthy, joyful lives.

Between work, kids, household, and self-care, you have things to do – lots of them. Whatever the details of your to-do list are, you need your health to be there for you. Just like my patients, I’m a busy person: momming, working, keeping house and trying to be a more and more authentic version of myself. I know it’s challenging, and I know how important it is.

You can have a clear plan you feel confident in for getting you back to your true self: fun, confident, generous, there for others, carefree, creative. When you are replenished, your cup is overflowing and you can be the person you want to be in your family, in your work and in your community.

At Your First Appointment

An intake interview with a holistic outlook

Dr. Andrea will ask about many areas of your health in order to find clues as to what may be contributing to your symptoms. For example, increased premenstrual breast tenderness indicates that the influence of estrogen is too high, which may mean that ovulation is not occurring with every menstrual cycle.

Lab tests to help understand what is happening

Naturopathic doctors are able to order and interpret lab tests. This includes tests related to sex hormone balance, thyroid function, nutrient status and more. Specialized tests may also be used, including time-lapse hormone level testing or food sensitivity testing.

Comprehensive physical exam

Physical exams can reveal information about the underlying cause of your symptoms.

The information gathered determines your individualized treatment plan

Naturopathic treatment includes nutrition advice, lifestyle changes, nutritional supplements and herbal medicine. These treatments are supported by scientific evidence.

Here are some examples:

Nutrition advice

Dr. Andrea may provide you with a meal plan high in vegetables and low in snacks to increase the likelihood of pregnancy with in vitro fertilization.

Lifestyle changes

Dr. Andrea may have couples time intercourse to happen during their fertile window to help resolve some cases of infertility.

Nutritional supplements & Herbal medicine

Dr. Andrea may have you take supplements or herbal medicine to help improve the quality of egg and sperm cells or to help improve the likelihood of ovulation occurring.

Bio-identical Hormone Supplementation

Dr. Andrea may prescribe you with estrogen or progesterone to help with hormone imbalance, mental health and infertility.

Lab Tests

Lab tests are often ordered to assist in making a diagnosis and to monitor the course of treatment. The prices of lab tests vary according to their cost to the Clinic and include an administrative fee. At the time of an Initial Appointment, Dr. Andrea will often recommend lab testing, which can cost hundreds of dollars. Dr. Andrea will explain her reasoning for each test and you can decide whether or not to proceed with it.

Health Insurance Coverage

Dr. Andrea does have direct billing through Telus Health, so please visit telus.com/eclaims to see if your insurance provider is supported by their service and please notify us of this information either at or prior to your next appointment. Most insurance policies cover visits to a Naturopathic doctor, but each one does it a little differently, so it is important to check your particular policy. Policies may cover consultation time, lab tests and/or natural health products. OHIP does not offer any coverage for Naturopathic medicine.
