About the Practice

A Note From Dr. Andrea

Just like my patients, I’m a busy person: momming, working, homekeeping and just trying to be a more and more authentic version of myself. Giving out advice all day can go to a girl’s head, but my toddler Forrest makes sure I stay humble.

I like to spend time outside, daydream, read and play. Good food and heart-to-heart conversations with friends and family keep me happy.

For me, working as a naturopath is a practice that keeps pushing me to grow. I strive to be more present, provide more effective plans and open my heart wider. It’s how I earn my living, but the true reward is the honour of my patients’ faith in me.

About Dr. Andrea

Dr. Andrea Hilborn is a board-certified Naturopathic Doctor serving the area from Toronto to Ottawa. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she gained her four year post-graduate Doctor of Naturopathy Degree (ND), and completed a 12-month clinical internship at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic. She is registered by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and has gained prescription rights by passing the College’s Prescribing and Therapeutics examination.

Dr. Andrea has a passion for writing and wrote a column for the Kingston-Whig Standing from 2012-2015. She has also written for the national magazine Alive.

Through further training and personal interest, Dr. Andrea has developed her approach to the treatment of conditions that are important to women: infertility, hormone imbalance, menopause, anxiety and depression. She went to New York City to preceptor with Dr. Erika Schwartz, pioneer of the use of bio-identical hormones and authour of many books on the subject.

Lab Tests

Lab tests are often ordered to assist in making a diagnosis and to monitor the course of treatment. The prices of lab tests vary according to their cost to the Clinic and include an administrative fee. At the time of an Initial Appointment, Dr. Andrea will often recommend lab testing, which can cost hundreds of dollars. Dr. Andrea will explain her reasoning for each test and you can decide whether or not to proceed with it.

Health Insurance Coverage

Most insurance policies cover visits to a Naturopathic doctor, but each one does it a little differently, so it is important to check your particular policy. Policies may cover consultation time, lab tests and/or natural health products. Dr. Andrea does not bill insurance companies directly, so you pay for your visit after it is finished, and then submit your claims to your insurance company. OHIP does not offer any coverage for Naturopathic medicine.
